SKÅL Asia Bucks the Trend Growing Ten Percent with Post Covid Recovery on Track

The 51st SKÅL Asia Area [SAA] AGM saw an impressive array of SKÅL officials tune in eager to hear news of this year’s happenings and the plans for driving post-Covid recovery in the region.

The virtual meeting was attended by 6 of the 8 members of SKÅL’s Managing Executive Board (EB) while past World Presidents and Past Asian Presidents turned out in a fantastic show of support for ASIA. Read more…

Andrew Wood, President of SAA and chair of the meeting said, “It was heart-warming to see so many joining our virtual meeting, acknowledging and welcoming National Presidents Carl Vaz (India), Wolfgang Grimm (Thailand), and representatives Dr Elton Tan (Philippines), Yoshiataka Bito (Japan) and James Cheng (Taiwan)

The meeting opened with SKÅL International President Burcin Turkkan who delivered a dynamic and inspiring overview of her committee’s achievements first the first 150 days in office, which can be viewed on the following YouTube link:

Meanwhile, a highlight of the Asia President’s report was the announcement that through a combination of sponsorship, club activity and input driven by the National Committees, membership in Asia had actually grown 10.29% despite the challenges of the pandemic.

To continue to build our membership, we’ve been paying a great deal of attention as to how the Asian Area can help and support our five national committees and 41 clubs throughout the 15 countries that today makes up the SKÅL Asian Area.” said Andrew Wood.

And I’m pleased to say that we have been very successful with our PROJECT 3000 campaign with a target to raise membership in Asia to 3000+ members and seen fantastic support in all sectors with growth in Active and Young Skål membership.”
