KRABI COUNTS DOWN TO OPENING OF A NEW AIRPORT TERMINAL AS TOURISM WELCOMES AN UPGRADED ARRIVAL IN THAILAND’S ICONIC DESTINATION
Skalleagues in Krabi are looking forward to the opening of the new Krabi International Airport which is hoping to double its passenger capacity when a new passenger terminal opens in November, car parking areas are increased and renovations are completed on the old terminal.
The Department of Airports announced the new terminal and 2 renovated terminals would provide 68,000 square metres of space – doubling the passenger capacity from 4 million passengers to 8 million passengers per year. The car parking building would be able to accommodate 2,000 cars.
Airport officials say that once the third terminal is opened, the old terminals would be closed for a make-over to bring them in line with the newer terminal designs.
Speaking on behalf of SKÅL International Krabi, President Kevin Rautenbach said, “The upgraded airport facilities will greatly enhance the experience of flying into one of the world’s most beautiful destinations. A fresh new look designed on an eco-theme will be welcomed by all in the tourism industry, as we recover from two challenging years."
